Jay: That being the case, I'll be in charge of coaching you. Hope we'll get along, Ren, Gast.
Ren & Gast: Take care of us...
Jay: Hey, what's wrong? Running low on juice?
Gast: No, I just didn't expect you to come, Jay. You could say I was caught nappin'...
Was told to keep the other sectors out of this before, so that makes me even more stunned.
Jay: That hasn't changed. I still think one of your two mentors should be coaching you.
However, I heard from instructor Lily that due to circumstances you two are having a hard time this time. I can't resist helping rookies if they're struggling by themselves.
Gast: Really? Gotta thank instructor Lily, then.
Anyway, is your team gonna be fine, Jay?
Jay: Yeah, a lot happened, but now things are holding steady. It seems that it's also because of that that I was designated this time.
Haha, the situation seems to be reversed. Just a few months ago I was the one worrying about North.
You were in good shape at LOM, and I've heard Marion is doing well as a mentor these days... I'm happy for you, Gast.
Gast: Yeah, thanks, Jay.
Jay: Oops... Looks like I was engrossed in talking. Is there anything you two want to ask me?
Ren: ... I'm pretty sure your weapon isn't a gun, but can you handle one? I have no recollection of ever seeing you use firearms.
Jay: Haha, you do have a point. My weapon is this right arm of mine, which also gives out a beam.
However, I acquired the minimum knowledge. I haven't been able to recently, but I used to have hand-to-hand combat training, too.
That's right. Shall I demonstrate my skills before taking a look at your capabilities?
Let me see... I don't know how this is done since the facility is new. I do this like this... maybe?
Alright, set... Here we go.
......
Gast & Ren: !?
Jay: I was nervous since it's been so long, but... I guess my result wasn't that bad?
Gast: No, you were good enough. I'm shook.
Jay: Haha, flattery will get you nowhere.
Gast: No, no, I'm just blown away. Right, Ren?
Ren: Yeah. Your movements were sticking to the basics and neat, and your accuracy rate was high, too. I honestly can't believe you're fighting barehanded.
Gast: See, even Ren who ain't the lip service type is saying so. ♪
But this also means now we have an encouraging coach. Good for us, huh, Ren?
Ren: ... Right.
Jay: Does this mean I passed the test to be your coach? Good, good. If you dismissed me on the first day I would have been too ashamed of myself to face instructor Lily, given she gave me a recommendation.
Enough of me now. Show me your coordination this time.
Gast: Ren. Gotta look good, too.
Ren: ... Yeah.

Gast & Ren: ......
Jay: Hmmm, I see... I feel like I got my head around your situation a bit.
Gast: W- We did a bit better the first day, just so you know...?
Ren: If we're by ourselves we get results no problem. Were I at your disposal it would have been fine, but since I'm not, it's a nuisance.
Gast: It's not like I'm tryin' to blow you off. It's just that I also have ideas and my own way of doing things...
Would be nice if you also listened to what I have to say for a moment... I guess.
Ren: ......
Jay: You two belong to the same team. And you live under the same roof on a regular basis, so it's an advantage especially in the pair competition. There is also a high possibility that you'll rank highest.
Especially since the 13th generation is going through an induction course on teamwork. See, this is your chance to show your everyday teamwork.
Ren: ......
I also don't think that teamwork is unnecessary, but...
...... I'm going to train for the single competition.
Gast: Oi, Ren!
Jay: Uhmm... have I bungled it all?
Gast: ......
